“I booked the hotel online days before my stay to allow for...”

I booked the hotel online days before my stay to allow for a quick check in and ensure I wouldn't have problems with booking upon arrival. When I arrived, the room that I booked online was not available, and had to be switched to another room. When I got to my room, the lighting was not working in two separate lamps. Upon check out the rate that I had booked...which was $66 some odd dollars...my card was charged over $90 with no notification from staff. When I called to have it corrected, I was told I needed to call back and speak to a manager THREE times before the manager explained that was the hold amount and the actual rate I booked would be charged days later. In the bathroom I noticed mold and the shower curtain was falling apart. There were cigarette burns in the bedding and staff tried entering the room despite the do not disturb sign I had on the door. I was very disappointed with my stay. Had I been informed of the credit card situation up front, I would have paid cash and avoided the hassle. I stay in hotels just about every weekend - at the very least every other weekend. Now I am considering a different brand with better service...and its sad because the location is perfect for where I want to be.
